Adobe bringing full-fledged Flash to phones
Adobe has worked for years on a lightweight incarnation of its Flash technology for mobile phones, and now is working to bring the full-fledged Flash Player 10 to higher-end smartphones 🙂 Chief Technology Officer Kevin Lynch said at Adobe’s Max conference.
“We are midst of evolving Flash Player 10 for mobile,” Lynch said. “We’re taking the full Flash Player and making that run on the higher end of the mobile market.”
Distributable Flash Lite player – This is awesome news for all of us, Lynch acknowledged that it’s hard to actually run Flash content with existing technology. Now, though, Flash Lite applications can be shared as a simple Web address, he said, and if Flash Lite isn’t installed, it can be retrieved automatically.
“You can package your application built with Flash and deploy it to smartphones like Windows Mobile and Symbian, and we hope to get to Android as well,” Lynch said. “If you don’t already have Flash Lite, it will detect that and install it on your mobile phone over the air.”
Flash includes auto-update technology so users generally have a current version installed, and Adobe plans to keep that philosophy with its push into the mobile realm, he added. Partners to help enable that update process include Cisco Systems, NTT DoCoMo, Verizon, Comcast, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Qualcomm, and ARM.
Lynch also boasted that Adobe is exceeding its goals for Flash on mobile phones. “Our goal (was to make) a billion phones Flash-enabled by 2010,” Lynch said. “We’re actually going to get 1 billion Flash-enabled phones by 2009.”
Adobe also working on Adobe air for mobile which they released AIR 1.5 on Monday, a version that inherits Flash Player 10 abilities such as better text rendering, support for right-to-left text scripts such as Arabic, multichannel audio, and 3D effects.
“Like Flash, AIR is headed for the mobile world. Lynch also demonstrated AIR 1.5 running on a Linux-based Aigo miniature computer–what Intel likes to call a MID, or mobile Internet device.”
Quite many things are happening around Adobe Max 2008 and many great exciting news coming up. keep reading my blog i will update you 🙂

Beijing 2008 Olympic begins and inspire the world :)
Friday evening, i was watching the opening ceremony of Beijing 2008 Olympic and it was just an awesome experience how technology meets innovation and inspire the world in beautiful way. As i heard and know this one is the most expensive olympic in the world.
The Chinese are acknowledged around the world for being some of the most highly persistent and efficient people on the globe. They shown organizing the most amazing Olympic opening ceremony in history. The ceremony, witnessed in the newly built “Bird’s Nest National Stadium,” an astounding, remarkable, mind-blowing, and staggering as it was.
Few more exciting pictures which i found in flickr.
I like the Five Olympic Rings from which they draw their color and inspiration, Fuwa will serve as the Official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, carrying a message of friendship and peace and good wishes from China to children all over the world.
Each of Fuwa has a rhyming two-syllable name – a traditional way of expressing affection for children in China. Beibei is the Fish, Jingjing is the Panda, Huanhuan is the Olympic Flame, Yingying is the Tibetan Antelope and Nini is the Swallow. When you put their names together — Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni – they say “Welcome to Beijing,” offering a warm invitation that reflects the mission of Fuwa as young ambassadors for the Olympic Games.Fuwa also embody both the landscape and the dreams and aspirations of people from every part of the vast country of China. In their origins and their headpieces, you can see the five elements of nature – the sea, forest, fire, earth and sky – all stylistically rendered in ways that represent the deep traditional influences of Chinese folk art and ornamentation.

A Cross Cultural Study on Phone Carrying “Where’s the Phone?”
I found this very intresting research paper a Cross Cultural Study on Phone Carrying and Personalisation co-authored by Cui Yanqing and Fumiko Ichikawa which is presented at HCI International 2007 in Beijing.
This essay presents data from a series of Nokia street surveys conducted between 2003 and 2006 that explored where people carry their mobile phones and why?
“Where’s the Phone street surveys set out to document the extent to which people noticed their incoming communication and cross refererence this information to the location where the phone is carried. The mobile phone’s effectiveness as a communication device is partly dependent on its owner noticing incoming communication (though whether someone decides to respond to that communication is another matter entirely) and it was assumed by the authors that the process of deciding to carry an object would correlate with a minimal level of its effective use. Contexts where there was a high likelihood of missing incoming communication presented a design opportunity both in terms of thinking about device redesign and from the perspective of connectivity-related services accessed through that device.

Adobe MAX 2008/2009 Cities Announced, again not in India??
Great news!! Adobe MAX 2008/2009 Cities Announced but off course as like as last year or so, again not in India?? Not sure for this reason!! or its not announced yet!!
MAX 2008/2009 will be held in San Francisco, California, Milan, Italy and Tokyo, Japan. MAX is an experience unlike any other, an opportunity to connect with thousands of designers, developers, partners, executives and Adobe staff for education, inspiration, and community.
Few questions if Adobe Max not happening or yet to be announced in India and it will be great if someone from Adobe can give answers:
- Why no plans for India?, is anything particular?
- Are we developer/designer are behind the current technologies or current IT scenarios so Adobe don’t think of having a MAX here!!
- Are we don’t participate in Adobe MAX events. OR is this issue related to money investment? or money per user participation, If Yes!! then why Adobe don’t put a user survey and say how much anyone can pay for??
- Are great speakers/developers/designers not like to come to India!!
I appreciate if everyone or every Indians can comment here and let’s Join hands to make Adobe to think on MAX event here. Your Views/thoughts/suggestions/ideas anything feel free to write.
