Gigabytes S1200: the Flash Lite User Interface

Gigabyte Communications released new smartphone “S1200” which uses Flash Lite for user interface. The phone uses windows mobile OS. To be honest Interface looks good without doubt but i feel there is wow factor is missing.

What you think about it? What can be a new touch interaction? How a phone can be more emotionally designed and defined for fresh thinking!!.

Adobe and HTC Bring Flash Platform to Android

Adobe and HTC, a global designer of mobile phones, today announced that the new HTC Hero is the first Android phone to ship with support for Adobe Flash Platform technology. The new phone delivers a more complete Web browsing experience and provides access to a broad variety of Flash technology based content available on the Web today.

“As the first Android device with Flash, the new HTC Hero represents a key milestone for Android and the Flash Platform. With close to 80 percent of all videos online delivered with Adobe Flash technology, consumers want to access rich Web content on-the-go.” said David Wadhwani, vice president and general manager, Platform Business Unit at Adobe.

“The collaboration with HTC offers people a more complete Flash based Web browsing experience today and presents an important step towards full Web browsing with Flash Player 10 on mobile phones in the future.”

Apple iPhone is still missing Flash Player and wish to have it soon.

Forum Nokia released Flash Lite Components v1.0 beta

Forum Nokia released the first set of mobile optimized components “Flash Lite Components v1.0 beta” The components come as installable .mxp files with instructions and full source code.

“This resource file includes six Flash Lite components; Button component, Contacts component, List component, Media data component, Popup component, and Scrollbar component. The components can be used to develop applications to devices supporting Flash Lite 2.0.”

Adobe today announced the extension of the Adobe Flash Platform to connected digital home devices with an optimized implementation of Flash technology that delivers high definition (HD) video and rich applications to Internet-connected televisions, set-top boxes, Blu-ray players and other devices in the digital living room.

The Adobe Flash Platform for the Digital Home now enables the delivery of HD Web videos to digital home devices via the Flash Video (FLV) file format. Consumers will be able to enjoy rich, interactive viewing experiences and amazing new ways to engage with HD content on televisions. Flash technology-based applications will allow users to quickly switch between television programming and Web content outside the Web browser.“Adobe Flash Platform for the Digital Home will dramatically change the way we view content on televisions,” said David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president, Platform Business Unit at Adobe. “Consumers are looking to access their favorite Flash technology-based videos, applications, services and other rich Web content across screens. Opera announced the new Opera Mobile 9.7 server-accelerated browser for smartphones and mobile devices. Opera Mobile 9.7 features Opera Turbo, Opera’s breakthrough compression technology, along with the company’s latest Presto 2.2 rendering engine (also used in Opera 10 desktop) and full support for dynamic Web technologies such as Ajax and Flash (for accessing popular sites like Facebook and YouTube).

Opera Mobile 9.7 will be officially available for download in the first half of 2009.

Nokia and Adobe launch $10 Million Open Screen Project Fund

Adobe and Nokia announced a $10 million Open Screen Project fund which is designed to help developers create applications and services for mobile, desktop and consumer electronics devices using the Adobe Flash Platform “a singular experience for multiple devices”

“The Open Screen Project Fund encourages the use of Adobe tools and existing developer skills to create exciting and unique Flash applications for millions of Nokia devices,” said Tero Ojanpera, EVP, Nokia Services. “With more than 300 million Flash enabled devices in market, we will support these developers through the Forum Nokia developer community while providing a more targeted distribution channel to consumers with Nokia’s Ovi Store.”

The new fund is a result of the Open Screen Project, an industry-wide initiative of more than 20 industry leaders set to enable a consistent experience for web browsing and standalone applications. you can find additional information on the Open Screen Project website and Forum Nokia website.

LG released a cool sporty phone with beautiful user interface using Adobe Mobile Client “a flash lite technology, especially used for User interface and only available for an OEM or targeting BREW MP.

The user interface is very intuitive that users will want to explore and master all of the functions and features of the LG-KP500. The UI allows users to access menus easily and shift around other menus simply and quickly with just one touch.
